The Institute of Hydroecology of Latvia in cooperation with the Baltic Environmental Forum, writer Agnesi Vanaga, the student corporation "Selga" and the Nature Conservation Agency presented the current problems of the water environment and, walking through an interactive route, revealed the secrets of the amazing world of water. It was possible to see unusual research devices, heavy diving suits, colorful underwater world, transparent zooplankton and microscopic algae world.
At the event, it was possible to strengthen existing and gain new knowledge about eutrophication (overgrowth of lakes, seas), biological diversity, learning about nature values on the coast in interactive and interactive activities in the Mobile Nature Classroom, the spread of plastic pollution and the way, especially about the new campaign "Plastic Pirates", as well as learn how dangerous substances can get into the water environment and also into human food. It was also possible to find out the first results of the lake and pond water samples collected by the students for the Study on Latvian lakes.
The special events of the event - readings by the writer Agnese Vanaga and the panel discussion on plastic pollution organized by the student corporation "Selga", led by Uģis Joksts and in which representatives of various fields shared their opinions - environmental expert Jānis Ulme, circular economy expert Edgars Cherkovskis, writer Agnese Vanaga and others.
