The Nature Conservation Agency is intensively continuing its work on the development of the Nature Protection Plan for Marine Protected Areas. This work is carried out in accordance with Point 24 of the Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 686 of October 9, 2007, “Regulations on the content and procedure for the development of the nature protection plan for a specially protected nature territory.”

This plan is critically important for ensuring the effective and sustainable protection and management of our nation's marine natural values, taking into account both ecological and socioeconomic aspects.

The effectiveness of the process and the quality of the results require close cooperation with all stakeholders. This meeting will serve as a platform for essential information exchange and decision-making, with a focus on evaluating the work already completed and coordinating the new protection measures.

Aims and Significance of the Meeting

The main goal of the third meeting is to evaluate the effectiveness of the existing nature protection plan measures and provide insights into the lessons learned, which will form the basis for future work. New measures included in the draft Nature Protection Plan will also be discussed in detail, having been developed based on the results of previous plans and current protection needs.

The central element of the meeting will be the presentation and discussion of the draft General Protection and Utilisation Regulations for Marine Protected Areas. These regulations are fundamental to providing the legal framework and practical implementation for the measures outlined in the plan. The opinion and proposals of the Consultative Group on this matter are crucial for the plan's further progress.
