Development of a unified nature protection plan for the existing specially protected marine and Natura 2000 territories "Nida-Pērkone", "Akmensrags", "Irbes šaurums", “Rīgas līča rietumu piekraste”, "Selga uz rietumiem no Tūjas", "Vitrupe - Tūja" , "Ainaži - Salacgrīva", as well as potential marine protected areas in the waters of the exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea Republic of Latvia.
We invite everyone interested to attend the plan launch meeting.
In order to acquaint the population and the involved parties about the future vision of the development of marine protected areas, we invite you to public meetings in Salacgrīva, Engure, Ventspils and Liepāja.
The new document will help to plan and balance economic activity with nature protection, as well as to reduce the administrative burden and time consumption in the preparation and issuance of various permits and approvals. If the proposed activity or management measure is assessed in the plan, the environmental impact assessment procedure will be easier and faster. In addition, the management measures included in the plan will be much more likely to attract funding.
Anyone interested is invited to participate in the meetings:
June 8 at 16.00 at the Salacgrīva Office of the Nature Conservation Agency (Rīgas iela 10A, Salacgrīva);
June 9 at 16.00 in Engure Culture House (Jūras iela 85, Engure);
June 14 at 16.00 in Pārventa Library (Tārgales iela 4, Ventspils);
June 15 at 16.00 in the Hika Hall of the hotel "Promenade Hotel" (Vecā ostmala 40, Liepāja).

To participate in the meetings, please apply in advance by writing an e-mail to gunta.gabrane@daba.gov.lv or by calling + 371 29123431.

"One of the major benefits of developing a nature conservation plan is the acquisition of new information about the sea, which helps to plan and balance economic activity with nature conservation, as well as reduce the administrative burden and time required to prepare and issue various permits and approvals. "There are much greater opportunities to attract funding, and if the planned activity or management measure is evaluated in the plan, the environmental impact assessment procedure is easier and faster," says Ilze Urtāne, an expert of marine protected areas in LIFE REEF.

We invite you to express your opinion and make proposals on the future vision of the development of marine protected areas during the meeting or in writing by post until 16 July 2022, addressing them to the Nature Conservation Agency Baznīcas iela 7, Sigulda, Siguldas novads, LV-2150 or in writing to the e-mail pasts@daba.gov.lv until July 16, 2022.
