In the LIFE REEF project implemented by the Nature Conservation Agency, an autobiographical edition of life stories "In the soul of the sea" will be created, which will reflect the life stories of marine hydroecologists, ichthyologists, fishermen and inhabitants of the Baltic Sea coast. Anyone whose life is connected with the Baltic Sea or has an impact on human life, work or creativity is invited to contact the creator of the publication. Anyone can apply for a life story interview by writing an e-mail to gunta.gabrane@daba.gov.lv or calling 29123431.

The Baltic Sea is important to many people living along its shores, as well as an important part of cultural heritage. The soul of the sea is a metaphor that reflects the deep physical and spiritual connection people have with the sea, as well as the sea as a source of inspiration for writers, artists and musicians. Likewise, the seashore is also a place for walking, where people find peace and a deeper connection with themselves. Artist Guntis Lauders reveals that he is greatly enriched and influenced by the sound of the waves, the music of the wind, sand patterns, treasures washed up by the sea, such as clams and seaweed, as well as amber found after an autumn storm.

Life stories help to understand the importance of the Baltic Sea in the lives of Latvian residents. Therefore, the stories are collected in the publication so that they will be available to readers both in paper format and in electronic version already in the first half of 2024.
