The film "Baltic Sea – Wildlife Refuge" tells about the nature of our Baltic Sea. Sometimes it is calm and mysterious, sometimes it waves loudly - that's all we want to say that it is one of Latvia's natural business cards. It feels so much its own and yet - shared with so many others!

The Baltic Sea is one of the most intensively navigated seas in the world, millions of people live on its shores, and what happens in the Baltic Sea is influenced by what water flows into it. This means that everyone who inhabits the shores of the Baltic Sea near and under the water needs the Baltic Sea to be healthy and diverse. In order for the sea to be rich and function as a single organism, it is necessary to create places that allow the sea to preserve itself, so to speak. These are protected marine areas, which, like national parks on land, are to some extent a compromise between nature and human needs. The nearly 500 kilometers of the Baltic Sea coast in Latvia is very diverse - from wide sandy beaches to rocky and even rocky places. But no less diverse sea is also under water.

"Baltic Sea – Wildlife Refuge" is a story that will take everyone on a journey to the underwater world of the Baltic Sea, where every frame is a discovery and a new encounter with what is hidden under the waves of the sea every day. This documentary story about the diversity of the Baltic Sea was created as part of the LIFE REEF project.
