Managers of protected marine areas from all Baltic Sea countries met face-to-face for the second time as part of the Protect Baltic project implemented by HELCOM to discuss the guidelines and plans for the management of protected marine areas, the assessment of management efficiency and the data portal of protected marine areas, which would facilitate the planning process and management . This year, Estonia, in the Lahemaa National Park, was chosen as the meeting place.

On the first day of the meeting, representatives of all member states gave an insight into the management of protected marine areas in their respective countries. In her presentation, LIFE REEF project manager Ilze Sabule gave an insight into the management of protected marine areas in Latvia.

In conclusion, the representatives of all countries recognized that such meetings and discussions are very valuable in order to realize the importance of marine management and that by working together and exchanging experiences, a positive result can be achieved in preserving the protected natural values ​​of the Baltic Sea.

Next year, the continuation of discussions for representatives of all Baltic Sea managers is planned in Latvia.
