Communication with the public in various meanings is not only a democratic need, but also a significant factor in order to achieve the objectives. Sustainable nature conservation is not possible without participation of society. Making society interested in becoming a part of nature conservation is one of the most important tasks in environmental communications when it comes to matters of nature conservation.
With this action it is planned to create a Communication plan, specially prepared and designed for LIFE REEF project employees to carry out the awareness-raising function, image and reputation function, stabilisation function and consistency function.

Results in the Mid-term of the Project:

The Communication plan contains guidelines for the involvement of project employees in public information activities. The project team ensures and organises the communication processes according to the Project Communication plan. The Communication plan has analysed the target groups of the involved society and the required type of communication. The Communication plan also includes the procedure for crisis communication, in case it is necessary to carry out crisis communication. Also, the visual identity of the project and its use in public events are agreed in the Communication plan.

Project communication activities are implemented in accordance with the communication activity plan, often taking place faster than planned. At the beginning of the Project and in communications, the planned communication activities are supplemented with events based on the needs of the target audience and various external factors in order to ensure reaching the wider target audience. For example, additional communication and education developments at the opening events of the travelling photographic exhibition “Baltic Deep Sea” should be mentioned. Audiences arrive at the opening events and the introduction of the exhibition is combined with a lecture on the state of the Baltic Sea and presentation of project activities. Cooperation with Latvian Museum of Natural History has become broader and more intense. The results created by the project are used to prepare a museum exhibition about the Baltic Sea.
