THE FUTURE OF MARINE SPATIAL CONSERVATION: FROM SCIENCE TO POLICY

The conference will serve as the concluding event of the LIFE REEF project, to share experiences, transfer knowledge, and showcase best practices from both national and international marine spatial conservation initiatives. Topics will begin with a comprehensive introductory overview, followed by case study presentations and a discussions.
The preliminary list of key topics:
- Identifying areas deserving strict v. general protection regime (the 30/10 target)
- Coherence of the MPAs network with the MSP and ICM
- Ecosystem services in the context of MPAs
- Effectiveness of spatial protective measures in the context of the MPAs
- Methodology of assessing cumulative impacts of pressures
- Coastal fisheries management in MPAs
- Stakeholder engagement in establishing the MPAs' network: sharing the best experience and lessons learned
